Floppy Not Detected in Drive

The power is on. The LED lights up during bootup.

Drive works on another comp

The BIOS detects the Floppy Drive I think. Went into Standard CMOS Settings and under Drive A it said 3.5 1.44 mb Floppy.

Won't boot from Floppy.

Whenever I put in a Floppy in my comp it says inserts disk but LED lights up.

Ribbon Side of IDE cable is connected to my Floppy Drive. The flat side is connected to the MB.

I'm pretty sure both cables are in securely?

Any Clues on whats wrong?

you have placed the power connector off one pin to right or ledt

you have placed data cable one pin off left or right

the power connector is upside down

the data cable is flipped

red on power should be next to red on data cable, both facing inward towards ea other

the red on data cable should face down on mobo (Pin 1)

the mobo FD controller chip is dead

you have a offbrand floppy which needs a special driver

buy a new sony floppy ($12) - solves all probs
