floppy light stays on, is recognized by xp, cant read floppies

just put system together
it works, but the floppy light stays on
windows xp recognizes it as a disk drive
but it wont read floppies

whats wrong?

cable is on backwards,flip the cable at the floppy end.

The cables reversed.

Also take the cable off, and look at the pins. You might have broke some installing cable

You want the cable with the twisted end connected to the FDD and red stripe on pin one at both ends of the cable.

Also, count on any disk you put in there while it was running like this to be totally trashed!
