Floppy drive reads randomly!!

Well...i upgraded my os to winxp and am having some problems

... but what is bugging me a lot is that the floppy reads for no reason...
it might be when i open device manager or when i go to desktop properties ...

i think it's totally random...

is there a way to stop this insane floppy drive? it was working fine before the upgrade...



help!

Remove the floppy drive in Device Manager. Then power down and physically disconnect the floppy's power connector. Reboot . . . and evrything should be cool.

Power down and reconnect the floppy and boot up. New equipment will be found, and Windows should install the floppy drive. If it works normally . . . problem is solved. If it still performs erratically, replace the drive. They fail more than any other hardware component in the system. They are so cheap I always keep a spare on hand.
