Floppy Drive Problems Help!

I insert a floppy in the floppy drive, but the light doesn't come on at all, i try click on 3.5 floppy but all it said is "Please insert a disk in drive A:" what could be the problem, is my floppy drive dead"..lol

Before you go out and buy a new floppy, check three things:

1. Check the CMOS to see if the floppy is recognized and enabled.

2. Make sure the power cable is connected.

3. Try another floppy drive ribbon cable.

The other way to tell if the drive is bad is to plug another one into your system or to plug yours into a friend's system.
