Floppy drive not working

So I updated some hardware, the motherboard, cpu, and ram got updated into a new case. Now everything seems to be working fine except for the floppy drive. It shows in the drive listing, it shows in the device manager as working properly, it simply doesn't acknowledge a disk in the drive. So when I go to use it I keep getting the please insert a disk message. I have tried about 6 disks, 3 new and 3 that were working right up to the day I switched things around. Not really sure how much there is to trouble shoot, but seems odd that the drive would have been damaged just transferring it. Any ideas? I know they are cheap to replace but I don't want to bother replacing it if that isn't the problem. Thanks!

The only thing I can think of is that the FDD cable is on backwards OR not inserted all the way OR that the power connector is not on right. I'm sure you've already checked to make sure it's in the right way on the MB too? It really sounds like a connection (ribbon cable) issue so try reversing it and see if that helps.

ditto on the above suggestions + make sure you try more then one floppy disk they can go bad outa the blue.

Hi, Floppy cable on backwards will result in the Floppy LED being on all the time. The drive will not be damaged, but a floppy in the drive will be wiped out. Swap the cable and the LED will be out. Like Daniel says, try another floppy. Jim
