Just put together the following...

Soltek SL-75DRV2 (purple ray)
T-bird 1.4 Ghz
Visiontek geforce 2 Ultra vid card
1 256MB stick Crucial
Yamaha 16x CD-RW
WD 30GB hard drive

POST is sucessful. All devices appeared in the BIOS 1st time I went in. Tried booting from a WinME boot disk. Floppy engaged. light came on and it made a noise like it was trying to read but failed. Tried several times.

Troubleshooting steps...

Tried removing the floppy device from the BIOS and adding it back in.

Verified the boot disks were good by booting in old PC

Swapped out the floppy and put it in my old PC, it works.

Replaced the floppy cable, still doesn't work.

Any ideas?!? :disgust::|:disgust:

heh, sounds familiar.
some floppy drives have inverted connectors, that is you'd have to turn your floppy cable over
and connect it like that.
try it, it should work; I myself had that similar problem several times.
and make sure ALL the floppy connector's pins are engaged ,cause you
might be connecting only a half of them (floppy drives are a pain at times)
so pay attention when connecting and/or installing one.
