floppy drive light stay on

the light on my floppy hard drive stay on as if it's reading something but i did not put in any diskette. wats wrong with it? does this has something to do with the ide cable?
 
This has happened to me a few times... more than likely the cable is installed the wrong way. Just unplug it from the back of your floppy and flip it around. Either that or the drive could be bad... but I think its just the cable.

I've had this happen with the ribbon cable reversed, too. I'll bet if you flip it around your problem will be solved.
 
Yes, cable's most likely backwards. Just know though, I've had floppy drives that were keyed the wrong way.
