Floppy drive is slow...

Whenever my computer tries to access the floppy drive, it takes forever. This is a new system using an older floppy drive that I've had in other systems. In the other systems when the system tried to access the floppy, it would 'spin' once and then continue as normal. On this system it does it several times before continuing. Any ideas?

Unless you use the floppy frequently, just disable it in the bios. Makes for a faster boot-up. When you need to use the floppy, just switch the bios setting back on during bootup.

I have the floppy disabled from bootup in bios, i'm just talking about when I need to use the floppy for general things (such as load drivers or what not).

You all don't seem to understand what I'm talking about. You know how we you put a drive in your system and then read from it (when it boots, at a prompt, opening a file, whatever), you can hear it crank up for a second and then continue as normal? Well my system won't do that. It makes that cranking noise for about five or six times longer than it should, during which time the computer just locks up on me. I don't think it's the drive that is doing it, since it never did it before on other systems. I have an ASUS A7V, does anyone else with an A7V have the same problem?

The floppy is connected as drive A right? Drive A is enabled in the bios? I've seen systems where the floppy was connected as B but the system (after a long access period) maps the floppy as A.
