Does anyone know where I can score the installation bracket for an internal floppy drive I want to put into a Dimension 4600? Dell sells a whole kit, including the drive and cable. But I've already got that stuff. Just need the bracket. Thanks.

What is the "bracket?" A 5.25 to 3.5 adapter? If so, they are in any electronics parts store or used computer shop. Here is a 10 pack of them for less than $12.

No. It's the installation bracket that is required to install the floppy drive. Since the original configuration of this system didn't have an internal floppy, the bracket was never included.

If your case came with a spare 3 1/2 inch drive bracket for a HDD you can use that. The holes don't line up but it works. The front holes on the brackets are in the correct position, then you can drill holes in the brackets for the back screws (or leave them off and just rely on the pressure fit).

The brackets are a touch to thick and the drive will be very snug, but it will fit.

You'll also need to remove the face plate off the floppy drive.

Just an update to this critical issue...I scored an installation bracket for my PC off Ebay. $10, delivered to my door. Fair enough. Now on to this burning issue. Anyone?

Umm... that's because we bought them without he floppy. For $259 for a server with a 160Gb SATA driver, I'll deal with digging up rails, and as I pointed out before the HDD rails can be adapted.

Dell actually makes some damn nice cases - especially on their high end stuff. I love working on client's Dells.
