Floppy Drive Disk Format problems.

Well, I just installed my floppy drive on my new computer and I got some problem with it.

I can't format my disc with it, but I can use already formated disk. I thought that it could be my floppy controller, but more I think about it, maybe I got a bad drive.

I use windows XP pro SP2 and I use 2 SATA in NTSF. My floppy is FAT only. I believe that both are compatible if I can transfer stuff from one to the other (I use Fat disk from my other computer having an IDE drive in Fat also).

Sincerely, I don't know what it is. Any help would be great.

What does it say when you try to format a disk?

(although my first guess is that yes the drive is probably not working properly).

It only says "Windows wasn't able to format the disk".

When that happens to me (reads disks OK but cant format) it been a drive on the way out. Or maybe just dirty.

I will inform my retailler about this. I presume the same, but the drive is brand new and only a few days old. I didn't even try to use it for other means than testing.
