Hey all,
Weird problem all. Just fixed up a computer for my family and it's been working great except for this one issue. The first time I tried to read a disk, it displayed the contents and immediately locked up. The floppy light stayed on, and I could here no more real drive access sounds besides the constant spinning. When I tried the disk in another machine, I found some (though not all) of the files were gone. Tried this a few more times and it eventually destroyed the disk (luckily nothing important). My first thought was the drive, so I replaced it with one from the old machine (but actually a newer floppy drive - it had been replaced recently). However, I found the problem is not much better. Sometimes I can read and write to a disk, but formatting always locks it up, and it appears the lockups are still sporadic while reading or writing too. The problem is not a virus (got a good virus scanner). Besides this one issue, the computer appears to work perfectly. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Shaun

first I would make sure that all cables are attached properly, then I would change out the floppy cables you have now, also could you please post the specs of your sys including how many watts the psu is.
