Floppy Disk Problems

I have a recent new build which has a Teac floppy. The unit has an Asus A8V motherboard. I have checked the bios. The floppy has power and Wiindows XP will ask to insert a diskette if one is not in the drive. When I insert the diskette, it states that it needs formatting. I have tried with several disks. Some contain info and some are blank but all are formatted. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

If the floppy drive's light stays on all the time, its cable needs to be flipped over at one end. If the floppy drive and the motherboard aren't on opposite sides of the little twisted piece of ribbon cable, then you need to make that happen too. In this photo, you can see the twisted piece of ribbon cable just below my left thumb. Hope that helps 🙂
