floppy disk error in Windows 2k.. controller error?

In windows 2k I am getting the following error.

A:\ is not accessible.

The floppy disk controller reported an error that is not recognized by the floppy disk driver.




Now, the drive works great in dos so I know the cable is ok.. Just for grins I replaced it with a known good one. I also swapped out the floppy drive for a known good one with same response.

I deleted the floppy drive and controller and re-added them.. same thing

How do I fix this?

try disabling it in the bios, load into windows. Then shutdown, enable it again, and book back in and try it.
