Floppy Connector Pinout

I was about to build a system based on Foxconn's A7GM-S MB when I noticed that the FD connector on the MB was keyed (ie missing a pin) at pin 3 (?!) instead of the std pin 5 (should be pin 3 at the FD, not at the MB). I dug into it a bit & discovered that pins 3 & 5 are grounds (apparently for pins 4 & 6, respectively (which are "Reserved" -- ie unused)). So there should be no problem/damage if I use a FD cable that doesn't plug those holes in its connectors (so that it will be physically able to fit into the MB's connector), right? Again, my question is: Is my guess on pins 3+4 and 5+6 correct and can I safely use an unkeyed FD cable to hook up a FD to this MB? Funny, I needed to find a lousy, cheap, "unsafe" cable that ignores this key system (which is obviously a scheme to prevent FD cables being connected wrong-ended) in order to get things to work!
