Just an update from this post:
Original Post
I have to take my hat off to Norton A.V. 2000 which definitely has a fix for the virus def. "W32.Magistr.24876@mm". My parent's computer was infested with this thing, like 14 files in all! I was really impressed with Norton and how it quarantined, then after a Live Update, fixed all files infected with this definition. [BTW...I use AVG free edition and have gotten protected more than once but, I am seriously considering switching, seems to be worth every cent.] I also recommended to the folks to drop AOHell!!!
Now, a question...There was one virus infecting 2 or 3 registry files called "JW.seeker"[SP?] which could only be quarantined but not fixed. Can I delete the virus without deleting the file or do the folks have to live with the files quarantined and ultimately purchase Norton 2000???
Thanx!
PS...Forgot to mention I used the 30 day free trial. Will these infected files still be quarantined if the trial expires?
