Hey guys,

I am replacing my motherboard, going from a soyo 865pe to a msi 865pe. Will i need to reinstall winxp or is it possible my old install will work?

Please search; asked all the time. :p

There is an AT FAQ for doing this, and MANY existing threads; there are a few methods of getting Windows to relearn your hardware. Usually this works fine, and a reinstallation is not necessary. I've only had problems with it once, and in that case I ended up RMAing the new motherboard...

I might suggest a combination of 'motherboard' with 'install', 'reinstall', 'replace', 'upgrade' or 'os'. This isn't rocket science. :p

long, recent thread in OS forum
