ugh. sometimes this show is frickin annoying.

watching one where a guy paid for $345k for a house. he has a budget of $10k and wants it done in 4 weeks.

he wants the kitchen redone, new carpet, new windows, bathrooms redone and an addition. All done in 4 weeks and under 4 weeks!

ugh.

I like it. It's the one of the few shows on TV that my GF can both sit down and enjoy. That and Property Ladder.

I can't stand that show because it seems like most flippers are major assholes.

As a subcontractor, I've worked with people like that, and it drives me up the wall. :|

It's all fake. Don't believe the cost numbers or the work being done on schedule.

I like placing bets on how far over schedule and over budget they go at the beginning of the show. I've been pretty accurate so far!

I swear everyone pulls their budget and schedule out of their asses. They don't even look at the property first.

Ohhh.. I HATE THAT SHOW!

I'm a bitter, cynical little bastard, and it pisses me off to see how happy, sucessful and rich other people are. That's why shows like that make me angry and depressed. If I cant have something, I don't want to see other people getting it, and enjoying it.

The one with the Asian couple in CA? No, that was a different house they were in at the 2-year update. But yeah, their plan of creating a duplex from a simplex and making $100K was a bit unrealistic.

But hey, live and learn. What continually amazes me the most is the utter moronic prices of shit property in California. I like the one where they spend $30K on a crap house in Tennessee or someplace, spend $9k fixing it up, then sell it for $60k. That not a bad profit for a low-overhead, low-risk, quick turnaround investment.

I've always wanted to get into flipping (on a small scale,) but I suppose now that there are multiple cable shows dedicated to it, I've missed the large window of opportunity.

I hate flippers (but my wife loves the shows).

I only like the episodes where the flippers get completely hosed and lose money or barely make anything. Come to think of it, I liked hearing about all the people taking baths during the .COM era as well so I guess there's a trend.

I can't be the only person that gets perverse joy about watching people chase "easy money" and failing. :D

That being said, if someone does the job professionally, competently, and truly does add value to a house to then turn around and earn a profit, I can admire their business acumen and investment skills. I just can't stand the idiots that bumble around without a clue and fall into money. I would expect there are more than a few of those who are struggling severely right now with the free-falling housing markets.
