I have owned mostly flip phones since my first cell phone and always found them to be the easiest to use and most comfortable. To be specific I'm on Verizon currently and used mostly LG flip phones with my current phone being a LG vx8360. This phone is starting to show major signs of wear and tear and the battery life has dwindled. Given the condition of the phone and battery I think it's time for a new phone. Now I was going to go to Verizon and check out the few flip phones they have but with the rumored data plan changes and most phones requiring some sort of data plan now I'm starting to think now is the time to investigate smart phones.

What I want in a cell phone -
Strong signal with good talk quality
Good battery life when if I'm not using it much I don't have to charge every night.
Comfortable to hold and talk on, also can fit in my pant pocket.

The LG flips have usually always been fine with the above but with so few choices in flip phones and smart phones becoming so common I may want to upgrade and utilize everything out there (apps/email/im/browsing). Now if I upgrade to a smart phone before 7/7/11 I would get the unlimited data plan and be grandfathered in?

So if anyone has suggestions be glad to listen.

Verizon has 3 LTE phones the ThunderBolt, Charge, and the Revolution

The Revolution reviews poorly, so it's the TB or the Charge...

Flip a coin :)

Orrr, here's a wild card for you, get the BB flip from Dailysteals.com activate it on VZ, save your upgrade for the next gen of LTE phones

Do I have to go LTE for the data plan to be unlimited or is it just the performance is much better than 3g?

If battery life is really that important you should go for the Galaxy S2, or the iPhone4. Most other smartphones will require a daily charge minimum, regardless of usage.

Thanks for the information. I'm thinking about stopping at the local Verizon store tonight and checking out phones because one thing that's a major sticking point is the ergonomics of the phone.
