Flip Chip? Slotket?

Flip chips are the newer version of the PIII, as Intel moved from the slot 1 platform to a socket platform. A slotket helps convert a flipchip so that it can work on a slot 1 motherboard.

Newer Pentium III's are FC-PGA. Flip Chip Pin Grid Array. The Flip Chip part just means the actual die of the chip is on top instead of on the bottom.

A Slotket allows you to use a Socket 370 processor (such as a Pentium III Coppermine) in a Slot 1 board, such as an i440-BX board.

dese slotket affect perfomance or over cloacking potential or created problem in mounting cooling solutions?

Even though there isn't solid proof that different slotkets can affect overclocking capabilities, I would advise staying away from the $5 generic slotkets and getting a name brand (preferably MSI or Asus). You get what you pay for, and in order for the generic slotkets to be cheaper, cheaper parts are used.

kly2222 has a very good point. I have this generic slotket and i believe it is stopping me dead in my tracks of overclocking.

Imo it is best to get a slot1 mobo when using a p3, then purchase a good slotket like the Abit Slotket III for fc-pga chips. Then you have the convenience of using fcpga now, and if ever in the future needing to pot a slot1 cpu in, you can.

Yeah, if you're concerned with overclocking performance, then you should stay away from generic ones.

Also, FC-PGA chips can exist as both a Socket370 format or Slot-1 format. An FC-PGA Socket370 chip requires special Slotkets though, and older PPGA Slotkets won't work. There are Slotkets that work for both chips though, AFAIK most newer decent slotkets work for both types.
