Flights Grounded - Does it also include UPS, USPS, FEDEX, etc?

Just curious if anyone knows if there was a distinction. I assume because the FAA Control Towers are closed that NO flights are going on, but, wasn't sure if they'd made an exception for Mail Services (non-commuter flights)?

UPS is based in Atlanta and they did an interview with a PR person there today. They are still accepting and delivering airborne packages, but using their ground network to do so. They said they will have planes in the air as soon as the FAA allows it.

What about FedEX?

**EDIT**

FedEx Statement
While all FedEx employees have been accounted for and are safe, everyone has been affected by Tuesday?s tragic events. Our thoughts and prayers are with the many people whose lives have been changed forever.
All FedEx companies are operating as normally as possible given the circumstances. Due to the shutdown of the United States air traffic system, FedEx Express has been most affected. Our goal is to keep our customers? shipments moving and have secured additional trucking capacity as part of the all-trucking contingency plans for FedEx Express. It is likely that many FedEx Express shipments will be delayed a minimum of 24 to 48 hours, and the FedEx Express Money Back Guarantee will remain suspended until normal operations resume.

FedEx Express air and ground operations within Asia, Europe and parts of Latin America are currently operating. However, no transborder operations between the U.S., Canada and Mexico are occurring at present, and our flights to and from the U.S. have been suspended temporarily as part of the FAA mandate.

FedEx Express is making pickups and deliveries where access is not restricted. We will be unable to provide services to and from Manhattan on Wednesday. It is too early to predict when service will return to normal.

FedEx is cooperating fully with government authorities.

We will provide updates as we have more information.

Thanks! (BTW, I was asking because I saw the ups truck today and was curious if they and others were still flying).

Reported on CNN that airports may reopen after they meet the new FAA guidleines oh enhanced security. So its up to the Airports now to meet the guidelines before reoperating.

Seattle Airport has been O.K.'d to open at 3:00 PM today. Just reported on Ch 2. No carry on luggage, not even a purse.

Nothing is flying and it is weird. I live near a major airport and had to go to a business a couple blocks away from it. I am used to seeing a plane every couple of minutes.

I work and live in Dallas-Fort Worth and Love field airports shadows, I am use to seeing no less than 15-20 planes in the air around here. Very weird....the sky belongs to the birds again.

I'm not sure how FedEx works... but UPS has a huge ground network. Chances are FedEx Express packages were not put in the FedEx Ground network. But I really don't care what's going on. With the Tragedy and all, I don't think anyone will mind waiting a few days to get their packages.

Agreed, I had to email a few hundred of my customers that their packages would be late, in some cases, very late. Not one single complaint.
