My neighbor just came over, 67 years old, and he's working with Flight Simulator 2004. I don't know much about the game, but he wants to set up 3 views across 3 monitors. Left being left, center - center, and right being right. My questions are, can it be done? What type of video card is needed? Any ideas on sites for this information?

Thanx

I dont know that I'd fuss with it right now, I find 2 monitors to be very frustrating as the program does not save settings in full screen mode and constantly pushes the windows back to the main monitor.

That being said, there are some great flight sim web sites such as avsim, flightsim are the two I go to a lot to fully investigate.

I believe if you got a PCI video card and plugged it in, making sure you had compatible equipment, that you could do this. I believe also that the upcoming Nvidia SLI cards PCI-express will support 4 monitors in non-SLI mode but that will require revamping the motherboard more than likely. Whether the PC can handle the strain of 2 video cards is a different story.

My suggestion is to be happy with 2 monitors for now and if he has enough money he could build an A64 based SLI solution in a couple of months.

The Matrox Parhelia is the video card he should look at getting... it's designed for panoramic gaming, and runs the current stuff great. Here is a simple look at the "Surround Gaming" setup for you. Hope that's helpful!
