Flight Simulator X issue

I just picked up FSX gold and whenever I select a mission and hit the 'Go To Briefing' button it hangs and I get the little dialog box that it has crashed and windows is figuring out what to do. It will then restart FSX and the same behavior continues.

I am running Vista Home 64, a 8800GTS, and using a X52 flight stick. I've tried with and without the stick. I've tried reinstalling. I've tried turning off DX10, turning down various graphics setting. It works fine for free flight its just the mission portion that doesn't work.

I've searched around (though perhaps my google skills have failed me) and while I've seen people post the exact same issue I've yet to see a solution.

Anyone seen this issue and managed to fix it?

It's been a while since I installed the actual game itself.
Here is what I'd recommend you to do:
1) Uninstall the game.
2) Update your g/c to its latest driver.
3) Reinstall the game.

Bah, had the same issue but fixed it. Now I can't remember what I did.
