I am thinking of getting into FS scene and was wondering which one to go with. I heard great things about both FS 2004 and FS X but people have been warning me about extreme system requirements (not what it says behind the box, but realistic ones) for FS X. Should I just buy FS 2004?

Thanks.

Can you really not tune down the FS X graphics? I remember the old versions used to scale waaaay down.

FSX is in my opinion, graphically mediocre for the immense amount of power required, but admittedly the multiplayer is much easier to setup, especially since the MSN gaming zone no longer supports FS04.

I guess I'll get the FS X.

My main concern was that I have a laptop as the harddrive is only 5400 RPM so I am scared of the load times, lol.

Pentium M 2.1 GHz.
2 GB RAM
128 MB ATI FireGL Video Card

:)

FSX is not a good looking game. In all seriousness, it's really quite ugly while using huge amounts of system resources. Even with everything on the highest settings, the game is ugly.

The ground features have the worst graphics, their maps are horribly inaccurate (It will tile ground features and put houses on little islands and whatnot), and it doesn't even let you have the satisfaction of crashing... ;)

I really regret spending $70 on it, and I'm usually easy to please when it comes to value for money spent.

So you recommend I get FS 2004 or some other game?

7800GTX.

The game might be realistic, I don't know, I'm not a pilot. I bought it so that I could fly around cities and swoop through beautiful terrain. Neither of those is at all satisfying in the game.

Just my opinion, of course.

i read on an fs forum that fsx tuned to look comparable to fs2k4 @ max settings will run worse

fs2k4 is great, and I don't doubt fsx is great but it has really poor performance.

I still have FS 2002 but is it worth to play? I have played FS 2004 but I gave it to my friend by mistake. I have to buy another one soon.
