Flight Sim crashing

I realize that this is not a flight sim forum, but this is where the brains are. I am having problems with my system crashing, only in Flight Sim. I started the flight, and would run about ten minutes into the flight. Now it is only a minute. Doesn't make any difference how complex the scenery, or where the sliders are set. I have an MSI main board that uses a little 40mm fan on the chipset. My CPU never gets over 42C. I took the panel off and when I started up, the chipset fan was sluggish starting and I could visually see that it was not running up to speed. I couldn't find a like replacement fan. Board is over three years old. The best that I could do was I made a replacement fan work, with some obstructions to the airflow. The system still crashes as before. I feel that if I have any hardware problem at all, it is still this chipset cooling. My question, can software problems allow me to start up and run OK, and then crash? I am trying to think up a reason for upgrading. Am I there yet? I would like to wait untill after tax time if I could solve this problem. Everything else runs OK. the problem is only when I run flight sim.

Athlon XP2100+ not OC
Thermalright SLK947 with 90mm Panaflow fan
MSI KT3 Ultra2 main board
512 DDR SDRAM
Radeon 9800np
5 case fans
400 watt Enermax

And now I'll send you to a flight sim forum because more than likely there'll be someone with a similar problem.

Try this one if you haven't already

and search the message boards, post if necessary. Good luck!
