So, I just bought two tickets on United from Chicago to Dublin. Bought them on Sunday night since it looked like the flight was filling up.
Well, wouldn't it figure that United just sent me an email with sale fares. You guessed it, ORD-DUB is now cheaper. So, I just overpaid about $140. That's a lot of beer money wasted!!!!!
Any chance I can call United and get the difference refunded to me? It is a non-refundable ticket, so I think I am screwed. Anyone have experience with this?
 
1) Read the fine print where you purchased it.
2) Call them yourself. Airline policies differ.
 
Well United was nice enough to honor the lower price for me. The bad part is that it is in the form of a travel voucher good for a future flight on United, and is good for a year. I know I'll be travelling on United within the next year so it's not a big deal, but how nice it would have been to get that money refunded the the credit card...

I was looking at Alaska Airlines prices yesterday, seeing what a ticket would cost. In a span of about eight hours, their price dropped three hundred dollars.
 
That's awesome they gave you something. I would have thought they would have told you to basically get bent. Kudos to United

they're pretty smart about luring people back aren't they ? 🙂 I thought they were one of the airlines losing a lot of money... either this ploy actually works or they are really desperate for customers.
 
CAn you sell the voucher? If so, I may buy it from you. If its non-transferable, than forget it.
 
many airlines charge a $50 to 100 cancellation fee on their "nonrefundable" fares and then give vouchers for the rest. So, you could get a little bi of money back in the form of a voucher.
