A team from my company (5 people) are going to NJ for an audit. We have booked the tickets already. We have seats GOING to NJ. On the way back, Continental displays "sorry, no seats are available"

Are we fubar'ed?

maybe its a "nice" way of letting you guys know you are fired. they ship you out and leave you out there with no way home!

We have tickets. Continental BOOKED US for the flight. They don't have seats for us.

sounds like you'll get bumped to another flight unless some people with seats fail to show up for the flight

airlines overbook every flight they can

sucks. i guess they will put you on the next available flight. airlines shouldn't be allowed to do this (i.e., no overbooking the flight).

If you get bumped, you get either a free round trip to anywhere in the US or $300 worth of vouchers for future flights. If you don't mind hanging out for a while it's not a bad deal.

<-- would've taken a later flight once to get a free ticket for arriving 4 hours later if he didn't have some testing to do at work at 5AM the next day.

i agree. i hate it when it happens.

usually they will ask for volunteers to wait for the next flight. if nobody does then they start offering tickets etc.

its such a pain in the ass.

well shit, I'd take the tickets if they don't go to the company hahaa.

I'm down to get wasted at the gate on the company's dime.

You will have to stand and hold the railing that runs along the top.

but don't over do it, most airlines have a policy to not allow people to fly drunk, if you are "wasted" , you might be denied bording

I don't get that drunk. I wait until like 3 minutes before I board, slam 4 drinks, and head over. I'm not inebriated until I'm in my seat =D

Get there EARLY and checkin VERY EARLY - as early as they will let you. The flight is overbooked and it will be first come first serve - someone will get bumped - don't let it be you!
