It's spelled correctly on most news sites

Wireless Network Named for 'Al Qaeda' Causes Security Scare at LAX

A wi-fi network named “Al Qaeda Free Terror Network” prompted a security scare Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport after a passenger on an American Airlines flight spotted the alarming appellation shortly before the plane was scheduled to depart for London, an airport spokeswoman said.

It wasn't a crime, man. It was just an apparent threatening SSID. This is not like you are threatening the President. They're not going to confiscate cell phones and search for MAC addresses all on account of a SSID.

Then how come all those people that use FBI SSID (ie FBI surveillance van) get charged with impersonating a federal officer? :p

Lets shit our pants over a wifi hotspot. Because if there is one thing the terrorists do before taking over a plane. They setup a wifi spot so they can all log in to get their last minute details in order and check email. And they use the name of the terrorist organization they work for in the wifi name.

As someone who flys - a lot - I have no tolerance for this idiot.

Look at all the people that he inconvenienced because he thought he was a funny guy. One late plane causes havoc all day long throughout the network. And I imagine that quite a few people missed connections, got stranded, etc.

The pilots know that it only takes one nut job at 35K feet to disrupt the airplane and get people nervous.

Good for the pilot.

And I hope all of the passengers that this asshole inconvenienced find out who he is.

There's a Wi-Fi hotspot in my city called "Agatha's Abortion Clinic". The funny part is that it emanates from a pre-school.

Ever notice how terrorists often say Admiral Ackbar? No joke either, I'm being completely serious. Weird.

Now people are just going to start doing this in the terminals. Will they shut the entire airport down every time this happens?

"Shit, I'm never going to make it to the other end of the airport in time to make my connecting flight. If only there was a way I could delay departure of that flight.....hmmm......"

You know what would be funny if someone did this:

After the plane gets to cruising altitude start broadcasting the following:

"There is a bomb on this plane" a few minutes later
"Prepare to die infidels"
"20 minutes until you all die"
"15 minutes until you all die"
"10 minutes until you die infidels"
"5 minutes until your doom"
"Allah is great, Allah is great"

That would be amusing.
:D
That might get attention though. That could be taken to be a broadcast death threat message, like holding up a new piece of paper every few minutes that said "I'm going to kill all of you."

"Definitely Not Al-Queda"

"Also not Al-Quiada"

"Al Jizzeera"

"Please cancel this flight"

"Pressure cooker"

"Trolling is a art"

Would be funny to randomly get on a cell in an arabic accent.

"Hi, is this tech support?"
"Ok, ok, yeah so we bought this unit from you, it's a model C4-45lb-a with remote"
"Well I'm pressing the button on the remote and it's not going off. I did arm it. "
"It's in the lavatory in an access panel, I'm on the plane now."
"Ok I will try to do it manually, hold on"

Then go to the bathroom.

Successful troll is Successful. Unless smartphones somehow obtain and save the Mac Address of every WiFi spot they've ever happened upon, this guy won't be caught. Risk free trolling indeed.
