Flickering at edges of image

I took some footage at an air show last year, with a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX300. I'm getting slightly darkened, flickering areas on either side of the image. Here's a link; you can see the issue at around the 3:30 mark, as well as in other places:

It shows up in the sky in many of the shots, but in other shots it's not present. Any ideas what might be going on here?
 
The flickering is most likely your camera trying to adjust the exposure level to match the frequent changes in lighting and shadows between the trees, the sky, and the bright white helicopter.
 
Maybe...but I'm not seeing it in some of the other shots that also have that kind of stuff going on. At this point I'm thinking it might be zoom lens-related...it seems to happen when the camera is zoomed in tight.
