I have had my new about two weeks old Gateway FPD2185W 21". It has displayed this weird flicker problem on a couple of occasion and it just goes away eventually. I'm using the VGA port on it and check the cables to be connected properly. I havent seen the problem on the Component input which I use for my Xbox 360.

I posted a video to show the problem on youtube.com Video

If the problem is with the Monitor I guess I have to call Gateway because it has been almost 20 days since I purchase the unit from CircuitCity to exchange it and they have a 14 day policy for Monitors.

Nope, you've got it. Call Gateway, they should replace it under warranty.

I'm borrowing a DVI cable from work to test that input see if it happens with that. I'm sure gateway is going to make me try something.
Either way if one port is bad it should be exchanged.

The USB hub stopped working on mine. I contacted Gateway using email from their web site. They replied to every one of my questions in less than a day since i sent an email.

They sent me another one (new) and sent me a shipping label for returning the old one back to them.

I tested the monitor with a DVI cable. My Video Card has both VGA and DVI output. The DVI cable was worse the image kept cutting off and on made it impossible for me to turn it off. I had tested that cable and output before and worked find again in the beggining. So Now i'm wondering if its the monitor or the video card?

I went ahead and connected my Laptop to the monitor using its VGA out port which can go to the 1680 x 1050 resolution also and so far no problems...
I'm going to try to reseat the video card maybe its loose on the motherboard. If that doesnt work I guess my last option is to buy a new Video Card and see if that has the problem or not.
what do you think.

But right now i'm sitting in front of it typing through my laptop and everything looks great...
Unfortunately I dont have another video card that i can install on the primary machine to verify who is at fault.

I work as a tech support agent, this is the kind of thing i would ask a custumer to do before i give him a RMA.

Edit: I just had both the laptop and the desktop connected to the LCD monitor.
The laptop was connected through the VGA, the Desktop through DVI.
VGA input looked fine, DVI blanking off and on. I even did a PIP which the monitor can do.

It seems like the problem is coming out of my desktop. I hope its the video card and not something like the motherboard.
