I recently purchased a Flex 14 6 ARR with an older Ryzen 7 2700U processor because the newer models have an integrated memory slot and max out at 8 GB. The 2-in-1 comes with a 256 GB WD SN520 2242 NVMe drive since somewhere, Lenovo changed the layout and removed the 2280 NVMe drives with no possibility of being able to add one despite the cover being fitted for 2280 drives. While researching 512 GB 2242 drives, there weren't many options, but i did discover that there is a 512 GB version of the SN520 in the 2242 format, the SDAPMUW-512G, but there is also a bulk version SDAPMUW-512G-1022. As I could not find the retail version, I had to buy the bulk version. The 512 GB version is also listed in their parts guide, although with a Lenovo FRU.

On inserting the 512 GB drive and attempting to power on, the screen flashes a few times and the Lenovo logo never shows. I know the drive is good as I put it in my Thinkpad and it shows up fine. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas why this might not work in the Flex or if the laptop can be reset somehow so it recognizes the drive. If I put the 256 GB drive back in, the Flex boots up normally.

I figured it out. I had to turn off Secure Boot before putting in the new drive. I'm too used to new builds, so I don't often think about Secure Boot settings.

Specification of the Flex 6 14 for storage do not have the 2.5" spinner instead using the m.2 SSD PCIe NVMe stick.
