Call me an idiot, but all I brought as identity for a business trip to Canada yesterday and today was my driver's license and a military hospital birth certificate. The airline (Continental) and the Canadian customs have all let me through to Canada without much trouble, but they have warned I am risking problems with US Immigration and customs when I try to get back into the US because the birth certificate was not a state issue one, rather a hospital issued one. I think I will be okay, maybe delayed, but eventually get through. Anyone have any similar experiences?
drivers license should work. new regs dont kick in till next year.
plan B:
there are THOUSANDS of miles of unguarded border. just walk thru the woods into Wisconsin or North Dakoda

I know, I know, but I didn't have time to get one. The trip was scheduled just last week.
