Fleet sales hike puts automakers at risk

After reading the article, it does not sound too bad at all

?In some cases, it?s more costly to shut the plant down than selling to fleet,? said Jeffrey Schuster, director of automotive global forecasting at J.D. Power and Associates.

Most of the article sounded as if GM and Ford were doing very reasonable things. GM will be producing cars only for fleet sales which sounds like a good thing. It keeps the value of the retail cars higher.

I think the title of the article is very misleading.

Also GM is making 2 Malibus now. 1 for public (new one) and the older style for fleet. I think that will help also.

Looks liek they are doing the same for Pontiac also, good idea
