Fleet or Citizens bank?

Citizens: if you have $5,000 in your Circles Checking Account, there is no monthly fee and checks/ATM unlimited usage is also free.

P.S. I don't have $5,000 so don't try to rob my house 🙂

I had fleet. Didn't mind it. But they bought one too many banks and had to sell the branch I was at so now I'm with Rockland Trust.

And yes I voted for keeping my money under the mattress, but in my case, it's in a 5 gallon pickle bucket.

Do you qualify for membership at a local Credit Union? CUs are much better than banks AFA fees go. I pay nothing per month. Nothing. No minimum balance, free checking and first 20 ATM transactions are free (providing you use the CUs' ATMs)

you need

"i keep my money in my 5 pocket jeans"
"i keep my money in my bib overalls"
"i ain't got no money"

Branches mean nothing to me. I'm an onliner. I pay all my bills, balance my books, and manage my accounts online.

I'm currently being billed $4.50/month to do this with Fleet. Plus I get HAMMERED by them if I use another bank's ATM. $1.50 ATM fee, then fleet charges me ANOTHER $1.50

grrrrr

I had Citizens when I was in college, no problems with them. Switched over to Fleet since they were the only one around that didnt charge stupid monthly fees.

Edit
Ahh Spooner. I think not doing it online is better, since you have actual paper statement to back any claims up. I guess you could always print out your history when you manage your account online. Citizens has a $1 service fee for using ATMs not associated with Citizen.

Whenever choosing a bank, one of my top reasons for choosing is the location and quantity of their atm's. I do a lot of my banking at them.

i agree, and up to this point, Fleet had WAY more atm's in the boston area

since a couple years ago, Citizens has added many ATMs and have taken over both supermarket chains in the area.

That's why I chose Wachovia down here, they took over the ATM's in one of the huge gas station chains.

One thing I liked about the Wachovia atms in the Jacksonville, NC area was they dispensed $5 bills
