I just got an offer from Fleet for a Titanium Visa with a credit limit "up to" $50,000 and a fixed APR of 9.99% on any purchases and balance transfers for the life of the balance. I was thinking about transferring an existing personal loan ($14k at 13%) over. Can anyone suggest why this would be a bad idea?

Is Fleet a good credit card company?

Thanks for any advice.

i have a fleeet credit card that i opened for a transfer balance...my transfer was of 4k, and after i finished paying it off, i kept it, and was about to close it when they sent me an offer of transfering and balances for 6.99 percent til paid off, so i would say is a good credit card to keep. About transferring the loan, i'm not financial planner, but if it's a lower apr, then i don't see why its a bad idea. go to http://clarkhoward.com/ and post the question there.
they are financial gurus and i would listen to their advice...

be careful and read the fine print. sometimes that fixed APR% is fixed for 6 months or so only. and another tactic they use is they have the right to bump your apr rate up if you are late on a payment more then once.

ive heard that it is bad on your credit to transfer debt to credit cards often. just make sure that this is a place where you really want to leave your debt before you make your decision.

Thanks for the advice, I'll hit up that site later on tonight.

As for checking the fine print, I've read it backwards and forwards and called their customer service. Everything looks legit. I'm not really worried about missing a payment or being late on a payment at all. I've got my finances such that I'm set for three months ahead. If I run into problems that I can't solve in that timeframe, then I need more than a little help. :)
