Im thinking of getting rid of my huge CRT (even though i love the picture on it), and getting a nice flatscreen, but i also play a lot of first person shooters, Ive heard flat screens dont look as good at really high fram rates, is this true?

It's 100% true. Flat panel monitors (TFT, LCD, whatever you call them) still do not play 1st person games well. Basically, they "blur" when you move around real fast, the pixels have trouble refreshing fast enough to keep up with some First Person Shooters. There are some models out there that are better than other, you might want to check the mailbag at GamePC.com, or read the anandtech reviews, they talk about this issue all the time

Recent LCD displays are a lot better than they used to be. They key factor you want to look for is response time. The lower that is, the less evident ghosting will be.

I would not hesitate to buy one. I have 2 samsung 19"191T. I just prefer the lcd. I'll take a little loss on image, but to be honest I do not see that big of difference.

Assuming you can spend the money on a nice one I would switch if I were you. A few months ago I switched from 21" CRTs (Mitsubishi 2040u and Sony G520p) to a 19" 192t. I am not going back to CRT. All the FPS games I have played (America's Army, Star Wars Galaxies, and demos of Far Cry and BF1942) run fine on it. While my max resolution is 1280x1024 it still looks better then my CRTs. My next monitor will probably be a Samsung 213t.

I switched from a CTX PR960FL 19" Trinitron CRT to a 17" Samsung 173T LCD and will never use CRT again. There is minimal ghosting in games, but it's not that bad. The other benefits of LCD for me outweigh the cons, greatly.

I personally have a no-name Kogi 17" LCD and I haven't had any bad experiences with it playing any games from FPSs to RTS. Your miles may vary, but go to a Best Buy and Circuit City and see for yourself. Sometimes seeing is believeing.

The Samsung 213T is sweet - I had to check ot out in person after reading the review on Anandtech, but it costs as much as 2 good 21" CRT's.
