Hey guys.

I'm looking at buying a flat screen LCD monitor and I have a few question. First of all, what's a reliable brand in terms of picture quality, durability, etc.? I'm looking to spend $400-500 and hopefully get a 17" LCD monitor. If I have to spend a little more, so be it, but I don't want to get a piece of junk.

see you're kinda new here
this is a question like "why is the sky blue", thats why no answers
do a search, you'll get lotsa info

but anyway, since i'm here:
Viesonic and Samsung: cant go wrong here

go to dell.com theyre offering 15% off + $25 off $150 on peripherals
they got a lot of LCD's there, but you gotta use search to find em

Bozo's right. Don't get unknown brand monitor because the quality of screen really different.
Samsung is the lowest you can go. I'll go with Viewsonic if price difference only <$50.

I have Samsung 570V - was $280 after rebate, so it's OK :)

I got my Planar from dell.com. Even without the 15% off deal and even if you have to pay tax, I don't think anyone is beating Dell's regular price on the Planar 18.1"

Uh, well I'm not particularly new here, I just don't post very often. :)

Anyways, I'd love to get that Planar 18" you guys are talking about, but it's a bit out of my price range. :( I'll take a look at viewsonic monitors though, thanks a lot! I'm very happy with my other computer's PF790 so I think viewsonic makes a pretty good monitor.
