Flat Panel has DVI and Analog inputs.. can I connect two computers to it?

I have a PC (DVI output) and my wife has a Mac (Analog output).
Most of the flat panels I am looking at have both DVI and Analog inputs.. can I connect both computers to the single flat panel? We wouldn't be using both computers at the same time. Just looking to eliminate a computer desk to free up some room.

I think it depends on the monitor. If they support switching between the inputs then yes. But if they just have both inputs for compatability then no.

Why not just use the same computer? Even if you could do this, it would be a huge waste of a computer, just get an analog flat panel for the mac.

EDIT: Welcome to the forums!😀

What if one computer is a server? Let him do what he wants.

mwilcko7: As somebody already said some monitors such as the higher end dells (2007wfp) have the ability to switch between inputs.

I do it on my Linux rigs. I connect 2 rigs to my Sony and switch back and forth.
No problem at all.

Yes, you can do this no problem. You may have to work the monitor's menu when you switch back and forth to get it to sync with the newly switched computer, otherwise you'll be fine.

I am doing exactly what you suggest using a Dell 1907FP works like a charm. 😀 I just use the button on the front of the monitor to switch inputs. For someone with limited desk space and no need for multiple moniters it is way  better than a KVM. I have two keyboard and mouse sets one on a keyboard drawer the other on the desk.

As people already said, as long as there is a button/option to switch inputs on your monitor, you can do this without any problems.
@ MadAmos: Just got 2x1907fp 🙂 Use one with the second comp via analog. Love these monitors
