The 8AX looks like a nice choice.... The CR123 batteries get expensive after awhile.... I think my next one will be the M900A for an AR, but its a lot of change....

emm, M900A, uber weapons light

This Wolf-Eyes 9T-Raider seems interesting, seems much better than the 8AX

Pros:
Li-ion batteries are better than nicd (life, capacity, discharge time)
130 lumens vs 110 lumens
LED tail cap vs none
Cheaper than than the 8AX ($150 vs $207)

Cons:
Cheaper quality? Never heard of this company
Surefire's warranty fixes anything except stuff like batteries and bulbs.

I have never heard of them either, and I try and keep up on that type of stuff.... For serious application, I generally go with the tried and true until something comes along to replace it.... And Surefire remains the standard which all others are measured by.... Look at what Military SOF's and Police Tactical units use, and you will be hard pressed to find anything other than Surefire....
