I tried the flash using winflash then reinstalled my drivers(worked for some ppl) but ATITool still says im running 12pp is it even possible with winflash or must it be done with the special flashrom

also i heard someone just flashed x800 XT BIOS onto thier X800GTO would this work or did he probly just adjust the speeds. i would try it if my videocard will still work after doing it, but i wasnt sure if there would be some issue that would cause the card to not function while running x800 XT BIOS

I would try the DOS flash but i have an extremly limited knowledge of DOS and would rather not have to resort to this..

You can unlock it by either flashing a gto bios with 16 pipes enabled, or a x800xt bios. For example, I had a c3d gto also, and I originally unlocked it by using the DOS flashing program and a modded bios. I have also managed to successfully flash a Powercolor x800xt bios on my gto, which sets it to x800xt speeds in addition to unlocking (I used the Powercolor XT bios because other XT bioses had VIVO disabled). I only used the DOS Flashrom applicaton, I'm not sure how well WinFlash works with those cards.

Read this article, and browse their forums, it will answer all your questions about unlocking the gto

ok ive read that article several times but im still foggy on what to do once i boot into DOS and am afraid ill get stuck in the process halfway which is wy i was trying win flash so that i can avoid booting into DOS ill try loading up some powercolor X800XT Bios and seeing how that goes

Edit installed the powercolor x800 XL VIVO BIOS still reads @ 12pp with ATI tool and 3dmark05 of 4361 to back that12p and stock speeds r the XT bios that much different besides the 100core/10mem speed jumps?

I asked recently about the GTO card here recently as well.

I got just about the same level of response as you.

There's is nothing complicated about runing the DOS flash utility. That article already explains a lot more than what I can say in one post, but I'll descrbe the important steps. Note, however, that if you're flashing an XT bios, make sure first the card can run stable at XT speeds by manually overclocking. Then flash the bios.

1. Download the bios you want to flash, and create a bootable floppy disk. Put the flashrom program files and the bios on the disk. Make sure all the file names on the disk are no more than 8 characters long

2. Leave the disk in the drive and reboot. It's recommended that you save your original bios on the disk, or some bios that works. To save the bios type this at the command prompt: flashrom -s 0 oldbios.bin. Another option is to download your original bios off the website and put it on the disk before rebooting.

3. To flash a new bios type this command: flashrom -f -p 0 newbios.bin, where newbios.bin is the name of the new bios. The program will let you know if the flash is successful. If for some reason something goes wrong, the use the same command to flash back your old bios.

4. Reboot and run some tests.

it seems my fears of ****** up my card while in dos where extremly misfounded what u said actually did help some how i think all the DOS lines they had in the tutorial made me think there was more to it than that. but if u load all the BIOS u need onto the floppy all u have to do is type
flashrom -p...... and it does it for you one step
after unlocking the pipes it actually runs @ 38deg C @ 500/500 16pipes

thanks again

Edit: think it might be time for a new power supply mine cant run specs in profile apparently runs fine if i unhook audigy 4 and floppy buy i need the audigy floppy drive i only used for this and reformatting my HDD might have to check into what thats gonna cost me crappy 300W DELL PSU:(
