Flashing video cards

I've read that you can flash a Radeon 9800 to a 9800XT, what is the benefit to doing this?

higher clock speed and improved shader performance(it has some shader optomizations that if yuo have a R360 9800pro, are deactivated by your 9800pro bios)

How does the BIOS update actually improve performance? Instruction re-writes / tweaks?

Do you have a website that gives information on upgrading your 9800pro?

basically most high end cards are all based on the highest end card, then restricted with software and sold cheaper....its cheaper to do that than actually produce multiple cards in one price bracket, its normally the medium end cards that suffer technically reduced abilities rather than software restrictions.....

and obviously the bottom of range are just poo and are for businessmen to buy in PC World thinking they are buying something cool.......
