I have an A7V. When I boot, it says that the Promise BIOS version is 2.01 build 33. My drivers for the controller in Device Manager [under SCSI controllers] are build 25, dated 8/26/00, which as I understand it is the fastest for boot times. But w/in the last week, my boot time has doubled to 2 mins. And I have not installed anything to alter the autoexec.bat file, it's completely empty. So I tried flashing the promise BIOS to build 27 w/ ptiflash [you can get from Asus or promise' websites] and it gave me a warning message that the promise eprom was unknown or on the mobo. The only option afte that was to hit esc for exit. So does anyone know where to get ptiflash that works w/ an onbaord promise controller? Or some other way to speed up my booting? And it's not that the promise controller take along time to pick up my HD, that takes about 2 seconds. It's that Windows takes 20 years to load!!! And help really appreciated.

Just thinking: My 40GB HD is set as 2 20's. W/in the last few days I"ve ripped all of my music CD's to drive D as mp3's. It's about a 3.75 Gig folder. Could that be why it's taking so damned long?
