Yes, dma mode is enabled but on startup, when I turn on the pc, it says speed 1x for the drive. Is it locked at this speed somehow? Should I uninstall the drive and have it detect it when it starts up again?
Thanks.

Make sure you use the rip unlocked, regionfree "hacked" version of the firmware.

Not familiar with the specs of your DVD burner at all. Could also be the IDE cable, who knows? Again, go to the CD Freaks forum and ask.

Firmwares
Look for the firmware under RPC1, not original. Also make sure you sure 80-wire IDE cable, I heard it helps on newer model DVD writers.

Go to the forum I posted earlier & ask around. I'll bet you somebody has encountered this problem and has the answer. Good luck.

I've done so, but no responses as of yet. Thanks for all your help. The firmware I flashed should have worked... but doesn't. :(
