Considering my system has been plenty fast and more than enough speed at the moment i never got into overclocking my FIC Radeon 9500 pro...

Now that HL 2 is coming i figure it's time to up the ante.. But everytime i attempt to overclock, even if it's 2 mhz it would lock up...

Well i cam across this site and apparently that's normal. Techware

Apparently the card is equipped with 3ns ram which is good up to 333 mhz, which is a nice boost.....Now my question is can i use basically any BIOS?

"Warp 11' from 3d chipset has these...Warp

Can someone help me out!

:D

Thanks

Before you flash to another BIOS, save the current one to floppy with the necessary flash exe and autoexec.bat so that you can boot and restore "blind".

Auric, have you flashed yourself?

Still wondering, i have seen a few horror stories, but i guess it's the same as a MOBO flash gone bad...

I'll be sure to back up.

just weighing if it's worth the extra 10fps... which it probably is..

Yes, I am a flasher. I even experimented with my 9500 even though it was not locked but ended up restoring the original. In my opine the only reason to do it is to defeat an oc lock as the original BIOS is usually best suited to the memory. The original can be saved and modified then reflashed, particularly if you want to increase the default clocks instead of using oc software.

It cannot be as horrific as a mobo flash gone bad because it can be restored with a floppy even without video or a PCI card can be installed and the AGP can be flashed visually.

Little risk if prepared... do it! :D

Sounds good...

The reason i am doing it is to overcome a OC lock.

Thanks and i'll let you know how it goes.

Have PCI VGA card handy if you don't want to flash blindly after a bad flash. :)
