Flashing motherboard, using same chipset

I got an ECS KT600-A mobo from an outpost.com CPU + Mobo deal. Well, I'm currently running a mobile Barton, and it isn't recognized by this motherboard (I believe I have the latest BIOS avail installed). It's only running at a 6x multiplier, and even @ 200MHz FSB it's only a paltry 1200MHz.

I have a couple questions. First off, is there anyway to trick this mobo into thinking the CPU is a Athlon XP 3200+, so it would use the correct multiplier settings? Or how about using another manufacturers motherboard BIOS that allows multiplier adjustment, if that mobo also uses the same north/southbridge chipsets.

I would definatly NOT use the bios from another motherboard, even if it has the same chipset. It will not work, and will make your board useless unless you replace the BIOS chip. As for getting the multipliers to work right, not sure if you can..

Have you tried using the advanced bios options? Should have a multi-setting in there somewhere.
