Flashing firmware on cd drives

I've been seeing people flashing their CDRW so that it is 48X@52X

How would I do that with my tdk 40 12 48 writer?

It's not magic. Not all CD-RW can even be flashed.
Here's information on a VeloCD 4/12/48
Make sure you flash your CD-RW with the firmware for IT... If you flash with the wrong one, you can kill your drive.
