I'm very skeptical of flashing any bios'es because of how easily it can go wrong. But I know, if you know what you're doing and you do it right you have no issue. All I'm asking here is if anyone can give me tips, or places to find some files that I can use to flash my XFX bios to a different GPU bios that has unlocked overclocking. As some of you may know, the XFX 7970's card is locked on overclocking anything, along with the voltages.
Also, I found this. http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/vbe7-vbios-editor-for-radeon-hd-7000-series-cards.189089/
Trustworthy? Is it worth a try?
The main reason I'm doing this is for crypto mining. When the XFX is locked, it pulls max 300 KH/s. When unlocked, it goes around 700 KH/s. Massive difference.
If it matters, the exact version of the XFX 7970 I have, is the non GHz version. It's the XFX 7970 DD Ghost.
Another important thing im wondering. How do you backup your GPU's bios if something goes horribly wrong, and how do you restore it?
Quick edit: I've seen that there is actually tons of different models or versions of the XFX 7970 DD
Mine is: FX-797A-TD FX-797A-TDB V5.0
