I have a ASUS EAH5870/2DIS/1GD5/V2 which is a non-reference design (bios which allows voltage tweaks and a beefier full copper heatsink).
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...tCode=10012518 (I can't find it on newegg anymore, I also bought it for a lower price a while back
. Anyway...
I was wondering if, since it's not the stock design if it is possible to flash the bios with the standard Asus one (not the one which comes on this card) so I can use the msi afterburner to OC/voltage tweak it. Currently the voltage is greyed out I believe because of the bios which only allows Smartdoctor to do it.
The only problem is that while smartdoctor lets you overvolt/overclock, the program itself sucks... a lot... so that is why I'm curious about it. I'm not concerned about flashing itself, I'm just looking for a yes/no or someone else who has done it or something. I honestly don't see why it wouldn't be possible I just don't want to have to flash it to find out it'll brick it.
Edit:
Unless I'm just doing it wrong somehow and it is entirely possible to use afterburner with this bios.
