Flashing BIOS on ECS KN1 Extreme

I just tried to flash the BIOS on my ECS KN1 Extreme (nForce4 Ultra Chipset) to support X2 processors, but upon rebooting, the system just made a bunch of beeping noises. I flashed the original BIOS back in and it is running fine now. I am asking if anyone knows what I did wrong. It was the first time I had flashed a BIOS in years, and the first time I didn't use a DOS based flashing utility (I used WinFlash instead of AWDFLASH). I overwrote every portion of the BIOS, so maybe I was just supposed to do a portion of it? Any ideas?

I'd be careful with winflash. You could end up with a dead board. I'd walk you through it but I'm using my other system right now. If your board works now, I wouldn't try flashing it again, even if your post shows "unknown cpu". Your dual core will still work fine with the dual core driver.

I don't have the Dual Core chip yet, I just ordered it. I wanted to make sure it worked before I plugged it in. The board comes with a second BIOS incase you mess up your first one, so that I how I recovered. I was lucky I backed up my BIOS before I flashed it. I may just try to plug in the part when I get it and see if it works, but I would like to update the BIOS because the website says that the early versions didn't support dual core processors.

EDIT: Where would I get a dual core driver? Would that be from the motherboard manufacturer, or the CPU manufacturer?

Amd has a page with it's drivers. Just do a search. On the same page you'll also find the "cool and quiet" driver.

I flashed the BIOS again, this time just updating the Main Block, and that seemed to do what I wanted. I now have options for a dual core system, as well as the "cool and quiet" support.
