While at a panthers game tonight i noticed some HUGE strobes flashing during the game from the lighting rack uptop. They seemed sporatic and werent following any pattern.
I was just curious if all arenas do this to make it seem like people are taking pictures or maybe to make the game more exciting.
I also noticed something simular when i was at the O Dome watchin a UF Bball game a month or so ago... Anyone know?

I notice it too.. and it really pisses me off because either 1000's of people are getting away with taking pictures while the nazi-like sports associations don't allow cameras or they're just trying to make it look like 1000's of people are getting away...

The truth behind the matter is thus:

The arena has an official photographer. Or two. Their cameras are wired into a ring of strobes above the arena floor. When they trigger the shutter, the strobes all go off, so no matter where they are shooting, the shot is well lit.

Case closed.

They're photographers, what else they gonna do?
