Flashing a ASUS BIOS

Senior member
I am putting together my rig right now.

However, I plan on flashing the BIOS before I fully put everything in (as recommended by people).

The problem is, I can't seem to make a suitable boot disk to boot off and run the DOS flash utility.

Anyone have any recommendations?

It's starting to drive me nuts.

thx

What are you having problems with making the bootdisk? XP has the sys.com command which makes a bootable disk, then you can delete every file from it except for command.com, io.sys and msdos.sys, that makes a clean boot disk.

http://www.bootdisk.com has a downloadable disk image for a clean boot for BIOS flashing. You'll need an application to write it to disk, like WinImage, or you can make a bootable CDROM using the image file.

Some BIOSes also don't even need a boot disk, but I don't know about the M2N-E. My Asus A7N8X shows a message to hit Alt-F2 at a point in the boot to invoke the flash program built into the BIOS. Just need the image file on a disk.
